Under 14 Boys - Journey to State Cup Final

July 12, 2024

Round 1 - Bye

The Kolts started their State Cup campaign with a bye in the first round.

Round 2 - Engadine Eagles

In the second round, the Kolts faced a formidable opponent, the Engadine Eagles, last season’s Champions of Champions Quarter Finalists. Engadine arrived at Bernie Mullane unbeaten in all league and state cup games. However, the Kolts delivered a dominant team performance with goals from Dillon Sweeney, Tyson Durnan, and a brilliant strike from Harrison Kiss. The Kolts' defence was solid, securing a 3-0 victory against the strong Engadine side.

Man of the Match: Harrison Kiss

Round 3 - Sans Souci

The Kolts' next challenge was against Sans Souci, last season’s Champions of Champions Semi Finalists, who were also unbeaten in league and state cup matches. The game was intense, with Kolts dominating possession and creating multiple chances. The breakthrough came in the second half when Tyson Durnan volleyed home from a well-taken corner by Joey Rahme. Despite Sans Souci's efforts to equalise, the Kolts' defence held firm, securing a 1-0 win.

Man of the Match: Joshua Morin

Quarter Final - Unanderra Hearts

In the quarter-final, the Kolts faced another tough opponent, the unbeaten Unanderra Hearts. Dillon Sweeney opened the scoring with a great finish from an assist by Tyson Durnan. The duo combined again for the second goal, giving the Kolts a 2-0 lead at halftime. Joey Rahme added a third with a spectacular half-volley from 25 yards, sealing a 3-0 victory for the Kolts.

Man of the Match: Dillon Sweeney

Semi Final - Moorebank Sports

The semi-final against Moorebank Sports, unbeaten in their league and state cup, was anticipated to be the Kolts' toughest test. The first half saw the Kolts dominate but fail to score, with Moorebank's goalkeeper making several crucial saves. The breakthrough came in the second half when Harrison Kiss scored with a precision shot from 20 yards. Dillon Sweeney added a second goal from another assist by Joey Rahme, securing a 2-0 win. The Kolts' defence and resilience were commendable, setting up a final clash with Belrose Terry Hill Raiders.

Man of the Match: Tyson Durnan

The Kellyville Kolts Under 14 Boys team has shown incredible skill and determination on their journey to the Football NSW State Cup Final. Their hard work and team spirit have paid off, and they now look forward to competing in the final and aiming for the championship title.
